Online Auction Secrets.

If you go online and type in auction into any search engine, you will be returned results of hundreds, even thousands of auction websites.  People everywhere list their items and have created these sites looking to get a piece of the auction action.  However, there are so many items listed, it can be hard to get yours noticed, but there are some tricks to make that happen.

Here are five basic techniques that have a dramatic difference your listing and sales.

Tip # 1.
Use keywords in your listing.  Deciding which keywords in your auction listing is one of the most important aspects of getting your item noticed.  Make sure the title of your listing is filled with words that describe your item.  Only use relevant keywords, use all the characters allotted to you in the title, and use as many keywords as possible.  The more keywords you use, the more potential bidders that will get drawn to your auction listing.

Tip # 2.
Misspelling some keywords.  Intentionally misspell some keywords.  When potential buyers do a search, figure some people are going to misspell some words, by you misspelling them also, you will be increasing traffic to your item.  Picking the most relevant and often misspelled words will ensure you get more bidders.

Tip # 3.
Keeping the starting and reserve price low.  Start an auction at $.99 and secure the least amount you are willing to take with your reserve price.  Starting the bidding low will actually encourage more bidding to take place on your item.   Pick a reasonable reserve price.  A reserve price is saying that you will not sell the item unless that price or higher is met.  Potential buyers do not know what the reserve price is, this also encourages higher bidding.  You can always accept a bid that is lower once the auction has closed, however typically setting a low start price will drive bids up to the reserve price or higher.

Tip # 4.

Time your auction.  Timing your auction so that it closes during the late evening hours, around 10 or 11 pm on a Sunday.  This is because this is when the most people will be home and able to place a bid.  Continue reading this article...
